People everywhere want to see Tokyo’s bright city lights and Kyoto’s ancient temples. While the big cities are famous for a reason, Japan also has smaller towns where daily life moves slower and the culture is more intimate.
When I was in Japan, I was so impressed by the big cities that I wanted to see something different and the other part of the country. Quiet canals and ancient trading towns were among the things that made these four Japanese cities truly stand out for me.
