1. Using a Pressure Gauge
The most accurate way to check a basketball’s PSI is with a pressure gauge. Simply attach the gauge to the inflation needle, and it will display the current PSI.
2. Bounce Test
If you don’t have a gauge, a quick bounce test can give you a rough estimate. Drop the basketball from shoulder height (approximately 4-5 feet). A properly inflated ball should bounce back up to your waist or slightly higher.
3. Inflating the Basketball
Insert the inflation needle into the valve.
Use a manual or electric pump to add air slowly.
Check the pressure frequently to avoid over-inflating.
4. Deflating the Basketball
If the ball feels over-inflated, gently insert the needle without attaching a pump to release excess air.
