New Delhi: The roads closed by Delhi Police at UP Gate due to farmers' march to Delhi started opening from Tuesday afternoon. This will make the path of pedestrians easier. Nearly two lakh vehicles were being affected every day due to road closure for the last 36 days. Due to this, extra fuel worth about Rs 50 per vehicle was being wasted. In such a situation, fuel worth Rs 10 lakh was wasted every day i.e. additional fuel worth more than Rs 3.5 crore was burnt in 36 days. On the night of 11 February, the service lane of National Highway-9 (NH-9) at UP Gate was completely sealed by Delhi Police. There was complete closure of traffic and tight security. Barricading was also done on NH 9 and Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Delhi Police removed barricades from Ghazipur border on Tuesday night. In view of the farmers' march to Delhi, the police had built cement walls and installed barbed wire on both the service lanes of NH-9. Vehicular movement was completely stopped. Opening of the road will provide relief to drivers. District Police Deputy Commissioner Apoorva Gupta said that the border was closed due to the farmers' march to Delhi. The work of opening the border has started from Tuesday night. The wall is being removed with a bulldozer. The road will be completely opened by Wednesday morning. Due to closure of service lanes, drivers from Delhi were not able to go to Vaishali. Whereas the drivers of Vaishali were not able to come to Ghazipur. They had to pass through other routes. Due to which his time was also being wasted.
